Fakten zum Fach

  • Englisch wird in der Einführungsphase (11. Klasse) vierstündig unterrichtet.
  • In der Einführungsphase gibt es eine Förderstunde pro Woche. In dieser Stunde arbeiten die Schüler/innen selbstständig an folgenden Schwerpunktthemen: Grammar, writing, working with a dictionary.
  • In der E-Phase werden folgende Themenfelder bearbeitet: Growing up, Making a difference & The Blue Planet.
  • Inhaltlich werden diese Themen anhand verschiedener Medien wie beispielsweise Lektüren, Filme und Podcasts erarbeitet.
  • In der Qualifikationsphase (12. und 13. Klasse) haben die Schülerinnen und Schüler im Grundkurs drei und SchülerInnen des Leistungskurses fünf Stunden Englisch pro Woche.
  • Formen der Leistungsüberprüfung in der Q-Phase: schriftliche Leistungsnachweise, Präsentationen, schriftliche Ausarbeitungen oder auch kreative Projekte, wobei besonders gelungene Ergebnisse beim jährlich stattfindenden Kultursalon präsentiert werden.
  • Besondere Highlights im Englischunterricht: regelmäßige Aufführungen des Phoenix Theatre, Besuch des Englischen Theaters in Kassel oder Göttingen, Möglichkeit am Austauschprogramm The Friendship Connection, Inc.  (USA) teilzunehmen
  • Jedes Jahr wird ein Vorbereitungskurs für das Cambridge-Sprachzertifikat angeboten, das für viele Studiengänge erforderlich ist. Ansprechpartnerinnen hierfür sind: Katharina Gatzemeier und Lisa Kapinus

Einblicke in den Englisch-Leistungskurs – Das sagen unsere Schüler*innen

Why did you choose the English advanced course? Did it meet your expectations? Do you have tips for future advanced course students?

"I chose the English advanced course because I like learning languages, especially English. We read different books and different types of texts, but we also write own texts and are able to work creatively. [...]
"Furthermore, we learn something about different topics like the American way of life, Great Britain, South Africa, science and technology etc. So, if you like the language and you are interested in the different topics, the English advance course will be the right decision."
"The books we read were really interesting and it was easy to understand them in detail after having talked about them a lot. This work never got boring due to a variety of different (creative) tasks.
"I expected that we have to analyse Shakespeare's play quite a lot. The reality was quite different. We read many different books and some of them, I really enjoyed. The lessons are not boring at all and the atmosphere is really nice. [...]
"My tip for future students is to speak, hear and read English in your free time. Buy English books, watch the English (original) version of a movie. It can help you to expand your vocabulary and improve your language skills at the same time."
